On Saturday 14th July 2012 Old Girl Anne Fridal will give an evening concert at St. James Church Louth. She will be supported by Louth Male Voice Choir.

Anne will also be giving a free masterclass for 6 local singers on three days from Wednesday 11th July.

On Friday 13th July there will be a dinner at a local hostelry, affectionately referred to as “The Splash” (by reason of being next to a ford) for all Old Girls who can come.

Thanks to local sponsorship the ticket price for Anne’s concert on Saturday 14th July is now only £5 a head and tickets can be obtained from Old Girl Prisca Furlong, c/o This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

After the concert the bar, and lawns of the Kenwick Hotel, will provide the venue for friends, colleagues and local dignitaries where we can buy our own drinks and carry on the nattering from Friday, no doubt!

We very much hope to see you there. Members who attended the London reunion in March listed “music” high on their want-list for future events, and they don’t come much more musical than the wonderful Anne Fridal.

SMHA Hundred Club is now fully operational and we have already paid out prize money to eight lucky winners! A hundred club retains half its income and gives out half in prizes so the more members the more there is to pay out. SMHA has no way of generating funds to secure its future through membership and is therefore fundraising to meet the costs of erecting a Blue Plaque at the entrance to the school noting the contributions made by Henry Venn Elliott and Charlotte Elliott. The Committee would welcome any assistance you can give.

How to sign up?

It could not be easier... simply contact the  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Douglas D'Enno, son of SMH Old Girl Anne-Marie Burns who was a pupil at the school in the 1920s, has written a fascinating book about East Brighton andOvingdean. (The volume is intended as a companion to his previous publication, 'Rottingdean through Time').

Douglas spent some this summer at the school taking photos for the book which is available from Amazon (East Brighton and Ovingdean Through Time).

This photograph of the school, taken from the book, will, I am sure, interest readers.
